According to many active in the online gambling industry, as well as most Internet gamblers, the top crypto brand in the sector is, without argument, Stake. Founded in 2017 by Bijan Tehrani and Ed Craven, who morphed their company Easygo into Stake a year after its launch, this cryptocurrency gambling juggernaut with offices in Cyprus, Australia, and Serbia, now offers its services globally, including in the United States via a social casino offshoot that went live in 2022.
A couple of months ago, Stake made it into our news feed for teaming up with BetBlocker to boost its status as a champion in the responsible gambling arena. BetBlocker creates software that forbids its users’ access to thousands of gaming/betting websites and apps, permitting them to self-exclude for distinctive periods. In our eyes, that should go a long way to boost this brand’s reputation, something it has been attempting to do with various sports sponsorship agreements that have aimed to bring it into the mainstream.
A few weeks back, we saw that the Sauber F1 team raced under the Kick brand and not Stake, something that occurred due to a gambling ban enforced in Belgium, which has a strict anti-betting/gaming stance. That incident inputted the idea we should run an article on all the sports sponsorships Stake has, as it has more than a few, including its noted F1 one. Thus, we have gotten around to realizing that content idea, and that gets presented here, so join us as we rattle everyone that this crypto sportsbook and casino has partnered with and with whom they are actively working to enhance this site’s global standing. Please note that we are only listing deals active at the time of writing.
Stake’s F1 Presence
In December 2023, news broke that Sauber will go under the name Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber for its 2024 seasons. That happened after the departure of Alfa Romeo as the team’s title sponsor. They will now race under the Stake umbrella for two years before assuming Audi as their main sponsor. The Stake deal did not come as a massive shock, as the crypto gambling powerhouse has dabbled in the racing landscape before. In 2022, Stake linked up with the Fittipaldi brothers, Pietro, a Formula 1 reserve driver, and his brother Enzo, a Formula 2 star. The Brazilians are grandsons of former automobile racing legend Emerson Fitipaldi, who claimed two F1 World Championships. Pietro debuted in F1 in 2020, and as part of their Stake agreement, the two siblings have created content for this renowned betting/gaming platform.
Top UFC Athletes Working with Stake
Former UFC middleweight champion and kickboxing phenom New Zealand’s Israel Adesanya became Stake’s first UFC brand ambassador in 2021. The Last Stylebender has noted that this partnership has been an ideal one. Mentioning that his personality closely aligns with Stake’s ethos and ambitions. The man who dethroned Adesanya and then lost the title back to Israel, current UFC light heavyweight champ – Alex Pereira, is now also a Stake global ambassador, entering into a multi-year partnership with this top online gambling entity in April 2024. He cited Stake’s work with Adesanya as one of the pivotal factors that piqued his interest in collaborating with this renowned crypto site.
Stake has also teamed up with the current UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Alexa Grasso, who attained her title via a shocking face crank submission of Valentina Shevchenko. Alexandre Pantoja, the UFC male Flyweight Champion, also waves the Stake banner, and the same goes for Brazilian heavyweight Jailton Almeida, who holds victories over fierce UFC foes like Derrick Lewis and Jairzinho Rozeenstruik.
UFC flyweight contender Amanda Ribas was also a Stake athlete, and the world’s premium MMA organization is also in bed with Stake, acting as its official Asia partner.
How Stake’s Elevated Itself with eSports Fanatics
Hardcore fans of Dota 2, for sure, have heard of Team Secret. That is a European eSports collective that also competes in Rainbow Six Siege, League of Legends, Valorant, Rocket League, Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and PUBG Mobile. Founded in 2014, in December of 2023, this eSports player announced that it is teaming up with Stake and Kick as a tool to deliver a unique and more meaningful experience to video game fans around the globe. They claimed that this deal would break new ground in creative branding. Per Stake’s website, this team-up will feature the inclusion of Team Secret in the hub’s community-related promos and its VIP Club.
We should mention that this collab has not been met with positivity from the eSport sphere, where fans seem to be getting fed up with all the gambling sponsors entering this domain. There is a prevalence of such sponsorships in the eSports landscape. There is no doubt about that, as is the case in pretty much all sports in regions that allow this. There is no doubt about that. What is more interesting about this deal is that it is another sign that video game lovers will probably switch over in droves from Twitch to Kick as time passes.
Stake in the Footie Realm
English Premiership gambling sponsorships have been a hot topic as of late, and this is something we have discussed in other GOSUBETTING articles. Stake is one of the more notable gambling sponsors in the EPL, paying over £10 million per season to Everton, replacing Cazoo as this club’s main sponsor in 2022. Everton working with betting operators is nothing new, as it got sponsored by SportPesa, a Kenyan wagering firm, from 2017 to 2020. Stake’s time as Everton’s front shirt sponsor will come to an end in 2026, but the pair are expanding their partnership outside of the club’s main senior team, as its under-21 and female squads also have this brand’s logo on their kits. On top of this, many of the team’s stars are participating in Stake/Kick-organized events.
Enyimba F.C., a Nigerian club from the city of Aba, and Brazil’s Serie A competitor – Esporte Clube Juventude, also get paid to don Stake’s logo, and former Argentine footballer Sergio Agüero, known as Kun Agüero is a Stake brand ambassador. We should not forget to add that.
Stake Branching Off into Tennis
The International Tennis Federation, in February 2024, published on its official website that Stake will be the official betting partner of the Jean King Cup and the Davis Cup. The agreement stretched from February’s Qualifiers to the Finals in November in Malaga, and it is a sign that Stake is looking to dive deeper into the world of tennis, attracting a new audience in fans of this sport, as the platform sees a high betting volume on major tennis tournaments.
