The new football season has rolled out for both Dynamo Kyiv and Rangers, albeit to a different success. The Ukrainian outfit hammered Serbian giants Partizan with an aggregate score of 9-2 and ensured European league phase football. Rangers, on the other hand, got off to a slow start to competitive football following a 0-0 draw with hearts.
Dynamo Kyiv Team News
Despite not being able to play on home soil in Ukraine, Dynamo have still shown incredible zeal and form, even if they play their home games in Poland. The team’s goal-scoring aptitude was on full display even throughout their preparations and the friendly games played, but it came to new heights during their ”home” game with the Serbian team, where Dynamo scored a whooping 6 goals and then went on to score another 3 in Belgrade. What must be said, however, is that while Dynamo does look like a team capable of scoring a lot, it also seems like one that is equally prone to conceding, as evidenced by their friendly games and the fact that they still allowed 2 to Partizan.
Rangers Team News
Rangers might have been hoping to kick off their new campaign in a better fashion, but a 0-0 draw with Hearts is what Philippe Clement’s men managed to get out of that game. While Rangers are a mainstay in European football it is worth noting that they are not the most ”fearsome” of guests as the team has not recorded a win in either of their last 5 Champions League third-round qualifying away games. Nevertheless, as a team that managed to reach the knockout phase of the Europa League last season, Rangers will once again hope to enjoy European football in the spring as well.
Head-to-Head-Games
The only 2 games between these teams date back to 1987 and both teams won their respective home fixture. Head-to-head statistics shouldn’t matter much here as it is virtually non-existent.
Dynamo Kyiv – Rangers Betting Prediction
Given the profile of Dynamo, I expect this game to feature some goals, over 2.5 to be exact. The Ukrainian team looks good during this early stage of the season, even if they do let 1 or 2 goals slip by, their offence seems more than enough to get them out of trouble. Rangers’ poor record at away games during this stage of the qualification gives more optimism that we might see a goal-rich game. Hence why my pick is for over 2.5 goals here.
