The battle between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis will decide who takes back home the UFC middleweight belt. These two guys are currently topping the division, so it was logical to see them battling for the throne. Strickland is the reigning champ coming into this event, while on the other side, the South African is a challenger.
UFC 297 Sean Strickland vs Dricus Du Plessis Betting Preview
Strickland News
Strickland is one of the best boxers in the division, if not the best. He is big, has a solid reach, and, above all else, is crazy creative with his fists. This guy knows how to combine and mix punches, and his insane cardio allows him to stretch throughout several rounds. Many would assume that his record would include more KOs, as currently he has 11 such wins out of 28, while 13 of his triumphs came via decision.
Notable victims were Adesanya, Jack Hermanson, Brendan Allen, Nordine Taleb, Uriah Hall, etc. He has five defeats, two most recent against Alex Pereira and a controversial one against Jared Cannonier.
Du Plessis News
On the other side is the powerful South African Du Plessis, who muscled his way up in the UFC. After holding the EFC and KSW belts, he moved to the UFC to win that one as well. Du Plessis holds a record of 20 wins and two losses. He is an extremely strong hitter, maybe the hardest in the division in Pereira’s absence.
Right now, he has six triumphs in the UFC, with him defeating guys like Darren Till, Derek Brunson, and most recently, the former champion, Robert Whittaker, whom he KOd in the second round. All but one of those wins were stoppages.

Betting Tip – UFC 297 Sean Strickland vs Dricus Du Plessis
The South African is a synonym for pure rage and power, and reminds of Strickland back in the days when he didn’t have today’s experience. Though, Du Plessis’ experience is solid, and he isn’t coming here as some rookie. We would still pick the champion to win because of his cardio. He knows how to control things in the octagon, while on the other side, we haven’t seen Du Plessis in situations when his attacks didn’t give results and when he had breathing difficulties.
