EURO 2024: How Do Teams Qualify for the European Championship?
Qualification for the European Championships is possible in several ways. EURO 2024 has qualification spots open to the hosts, group winners, group runners-up, teams making it via the Nations League and other methods. We’ll explain how it all works before.
The Hosts Qualify Automatically
Firstly, you should know that the hosts, in this case, Germany, always qualify for the Euros automatically. As such, Germany hasn’t been through the qualification process, playing friendlies instead. Notably, the defending champions (Italy) won’t qualify automatically.
Group Winners and Runners-Up
UEFA member associations (national teams) are divided into ten groups of either five or six teams. These groups are seeded. Each team plays the others in its qualifying group twice. With the top two teams in each group advancing to EURO 2024.

The Nations League
The Nations League winners (Leagues A, B, and C) will also qualify for EURO 2024. Unless they have already qualified via the Qualification Group Stage mentioned above. If they have already qualified, their spot is handed to the next best-ranked team in their Nations League. If there are no such teams, the spot is given to the best-ranked team in Nations League D. A total of three EURO 2024 spots can be won in this manner.
Best of the Rest
The best teams that haven’t yet qualified and those selected from the best-ranked teams in the Nations League will form a twelve-team playoff group. Those twelve teams are divided into three paths. Path A, Path B, and Path C, based on their Nations League groups.
The Playoffs
The Playoffs take place on March 21st (Semi-Finals) and March 26th (Final). The twelve teams are effectively divided into three sets of semi-finals and finals. The winner of each semi-final will meet in the Path A, Path B, or Path C finals. The winners of those three matches qualify for the final EURO 2024 spots.
Which Teams Have Qualified for EURO 2024?

The Road to the European Championship
There are still fixtures to play to determine the final spots in EURO 2024. The final group stage matches are scheduled to take place on November 16th and November 19th. After this point, all twenty teams to make it via the qualifiers will be known, alongside the hosts, Germany.
The draw will then take place for the Group Stage on December 2nd, even though the playoff winners won’t be known at this point.
The EURO 2024 Playoffs are set to begin on March 21st, 2024 when all twelve teams in Path A, B, and C will fight in single-leg semi-finals. The winners of those matches will then face off against one another in Path A, B, and Path C finals to determine the final three entrants into EURO 2024.
How to Bet on EURO 2024 Qualifying
While the time to bet on the qualifiers is running out, you do still have a window if you want to get involved. There are a few different pre-tournament bets that you can have a stab at right now, and we’ll walk you through those below. These include:
Outright Match Winner Bets
Outright match-winner bets are still worth exploring while there are still qualifiers ongoing. These involve betting on which team will beat the other. It doesn’t matter about the score – the win is all that counts. Of course, if you want to bet on the score, then you may wish to consider a Correct Score bet.
Playoff Winners
The Playoffs are set to take place in March 2024. There’s still plenty of time for you to bet on winning teams. Bear in mind that as these fixtures are knockout games, you will need to factor in extra time and penalties as tiebreakers and how these can affect your bets.
Pre-Tournament Bets
Finally, the teams which have qualified for EURO 2024 will be in action in the run-up to the tournament. They will participate in friendlies, which you can also bet on. Sure, there’s not much riding on this, but you can also start placing actual outright tournament winner bets on EURO 2024 right now if you want to bet on one of the already qualified teams.
